How a Preventive Healthcare Provider Turned Diagnostic Data Into Early Warnings

A healthcare provider delivers full-spectrum diagnostic and preventive health programmes to corporate clients across India. The diagnostics were running well, but the data behind them sat in separate sources and took significant manual preparation before anyone could see a trend. OnPoint Insights built a Power BI and MySQL analytics layer that turns diagnostic results into visible risk patterns.

One structured dataset

Diagnostic data from separate sources is cleansed, standardised and structured, so analysis starts from a single consistent base.

Risk patterns visible early

Medical metrics, trends and risk indicators surface in the dashboards while there is still time to intervene.

Manual preparation removed

Cleansing and standardising the source data happens in the pipeline, so analysis no longer begins with manual preparation.

The problem

The tests were done. The patterns were not visible.

Preventive healthcare only prevents anything if the pattern appears before the problem does. For a provider running diagnostics across many corporate clients, that means seeing trends across thousands of results, not reading one report at a time.

Our client had the diagnostics, the clients and the intent. What stood between the results and a decision was the state of the data: spread across sources, unstructured, and needing manual preparation every time someone wanted to look at it properly.

What was getting in the way

  • Health data sat across different sources and lacked the structure needed for analysis.
  • Cleansing and preparing diagnostic data for visualisation took significant manual effort every time.
  • Decision-makers needed medical metrics, trends and risk indicators presented clearly, not raw tables to interpret.
  • The dashboards had to keep evolving with the teams using them, rather than be delivered once and left.

Our approach

Agree the decisions first, then build the dashboards

What we found

Diagnostic data is never short of metrics. The risk is a dashboard that shows everything and answers nothing. So the first phase was not data work at all: it was agreeing which decisions the dashboards had to support.

What we did

Requirement workshops before anything was built. In-depth sessions mapped the client’s business goals to the visualisation approach, so the dashboards were designed around decisions rather than around whichever fields happened to be available.

Diagnostic data cleaned and standardised. Datasets from different sources were cleansed, standardised and structured in MySQL, so every dashboard reads from one consistent base.

Dashboards built to be read quickly. Power BI dashboards present medical metrics, trends and risk indicators so a reviewer sees the picture at a glance instead of interpreting a table.

Refined with the people who use them. Continuous feedback loops with stakeholders shaped each iteration, so the dashboards match how the wellness teams actually work.

The choice we made

We spent the first phase on workshops rather than on data. With a diagnostics dataset you can visualise almost anything, and a dashboard that shows everything answers nothing. Agreeing the decisions first is what kept the final dashboards short enough to be used in a real review.

The results

What changed for the provider

Diagnostic results stopped being records of what happened and became a view of what is developing.

Health data sits in one navigable structure

Diagnostic data from separate sources is consolidated and consistent, so analysis begins with a question rather than with a week of preparation.

Risk indicators surface while they still matter

Trends and risk factors appear in the dashboards early enough for timely intervention, which is the whole point of a preventive programme.

Dashboards the teams actually use

Built and refined with the stakeholders who rely on them, so the questions they bring are the questions the dashboards already answer.
